Content: Cadlag was created by members of PureH, Dodecahedragraph, TGWFYTD, Extreme Smoke 57 and Earslaughter. Their first production saw the light of day in 2007 while this new album is a live recording taken from 2 performances Cadlag did during 2013.
“Cadlag Live Tape” only features 2 tracks. The first cut goes over 16 minutes while the second one will hold you in its grip for more than 23 minutes. “Infundibulum” opens with a deep, growling sound, which rapidly moves over into a pure noise-like format. Cadlag’s universe is made of pure noise research mixing different sources of noise, which are manipulated and totally recreated. The noise wall you’re facing moves progressively into a heavy sound cataclysm accentuated by samplings and possible field recordings.
“Speculum” coming next sounds pretty similar in sound and concept. I here again was caught by the progression in writing. The track slowly moves from icy sound waves towards dark, buzzing noise atmospheres. Cadlag opens the imaginary gate of hell symbolized by a real sonic kaphernaum. The very last part of the composition is empowered by the sound of falling bombs, which only increase the state of horror created by those noise manipulators.
Conclusion: Get ready for a real noise assault that will appeal for a very restricted, but experienced audience.
