Cadlag is a project that operates within the fields of experimental electronics, ambient music, drone, and grindcore. Their musical output manifests as a carefully crafted audio-visual performance, supported by multiple layers of sound as well as the addition of television noise as visuals. Following the pattern of a dramatic triangle, Cadlag’s layers of sound interweave with each other and give rise to new ambient landscapes that, regardless of their individual intensity, resemble film depictions of signal loss or remind us of a breakdown in understanding between two subjects who theoretically share the same communication capacities. Meanwhile, the screen onto which television noise is projected, placed between the performers and the audience, also captures the shadows of the performers, effortlessly plunging us back into Plato’s cave.
